Here is photographic evidence that we do in fact get together and amongst sausage making, canoeing and the like, get in a whole lot of brewing.
National Home Brew Day 2004

Oktoberfest Helen, Georgia October 2, 2004
Every year we demonstrate home brewing by--you guessed it--brewing at this alpine village in north Georgia.
We did it and the Russian Imperial Stout is now in the tank at Rick's Whistle Pig Brewery. The small beer is at my evil laboratory. There were a few minor glitches, but we squeezed 44 pounds of grain into the mash tun, hit out temp eventually, and extracted 12 gallons of a big 1.105 Russian Stout with 95 IBUs and a color so dark, the Arabs charge $50 a barrel for it. The little beer was 1.032 preboil but I got it to 1.045 with a long boil and it is happily fermenting as we speak. Rick's Irish Ale yeast is on the stout now and Carl's slurry of the same is in the frig at Rick's ready to join the bottle in about two weeks. Details will be endlessly rehashed at Club Oktoberfest this Sunday the 10th.
