I had an extra rubber chicken in my car in
Baltimore and "hatched" an idea for all our future brewing. We need some
kind of edge, a rally point, a brewing talisman so to speak. I decided we
need to channel all the brewing knowledge in the universe through this
chicken, and then bring it to all our club brews and events. After waving
the Chicken over every mash and boil, we will pass all this brewing mojo to
our beer. My goal is to have the smartest Chicken in brewing. I am
recording all the people in home brewing and the brewing industry with my
camera together with the chicken. So far I have Charlie P, Randy M, Ray D,
John P, most of the AHA Board, Last year's Nationals winners, the staff of
Zymurgy, Sam Calagione (founder of Dogfish Head), Half the Master BJCP
judges in existence and even the head of the BJCP. Some elected to not just
pose, but actually choke that Chicken. John Maier from Rogue didn't make it
(he was on his honeymoon) but I got a picture with the lady on the label of
their Double Chocolate Stout. Before you dismiss that one, ask yourself:
Self, exactly how many beer bottles have my ugly mug graced?
